Meeting John Egnor was a career-changer for Spencer. He had been an engineering student at Ohio State spending time working bars and restaurants, even working his way up to General Manager. He knew how the customer-facing part of foodservice worked.
Then, he met John and was interested to hear about JME Design. He learned that there was an opening, so he offered to work part time to help out.
It soon became evident that he was fascinated with the design side of the business. From his bar and restaurant experience, he knew about operations but not how the operation had been created. “It changed my career path,” he says.
Spencer has been with the company full-time since June 2019 and is still learning the design process.
He describes himself as very level-headed, approaching each challenge in a logical manner. He’s focused, thinks things through and gets the job done.
“Working in the front of the house gave me a one-sided aspect of the industry,” he says. “But now that I understand an operation from the design standpoint, I see the whole picture.”
